The Family Records Centre is run jointly by the General Register Office and the National Archives.

Although the copies of genealogical records that it holds can also be viewed elsewhere, it does provide under one roof access to a wide and comprehensive range of indexes and records of interest to family historians.

It is ideally placed in London's 'Genealogists Golden Triangle' within a few minutes' walk of both the London Metropolitan Archives and the Society of Genealogists.

This centre is particularly useful for researching births, marriages and deaths since 1837 as it provides easy access to the GRO master indexes together with an ordering service for copies of birth, marriage and death certificates.
